8 years of community service comes to an end

People came from as far away as Waramanga right across to Dickson to seek out Maria’s assistance at the office in Phillip. These people will tell you that she was always happy to help out and that she took her responsibility very seriously. Maria even came to the attention of the ACT Department of Justice and Community Safety for her professional and dedicated service in this community role.

Maria opened the Canberra office in Fyshwick in late 1996 and within a month relocated to their current address at Botany Street, Phillip. Maria often thinks back to landing in the original location and laughs about the local workers getting the wrong idea about the company name.

So who are the Angels? They come from all walks of life but are primarily caring human beings and skilled, competent workers. Some are young mothers with children at school who have a few hours a week to spare; houseproud homemakers; active, “youthful, grans”; Support Workers; nurses; final year Uni students studying social work, medicine, physiotherapy and nursing.

Who needs the help? Most everyone! Busy working couples; sole parents with work commitments; time-wise clients who benefit from handyman-gardening services; Child Protection services, the frail aged; convalescing early discharge patients; the moderately and severely disabled; and even executives who like to entertain at home use Angels for their Home Entertaining and Corporate Functions.

It appears that when Maria opened the doors of DIAL-AN-ANGEL in Canberra she opened a lot more than that, people will tell you that she was an Angel who also opened her heart to the community at large.
